Parent Update

May 2023

Dear parents

As Easter season draws to a close, our daily readings of St John's Gospel watch Jesus setting up his expectations for his Church.  It is to be a place of service to others, faith in God, love, resilience and prayer - in that order.  We hope that our own community's focus on the core values of the LSU Sisters: Simplicity, Hospitality, Openness and Warm Relationships echoes this.  Tomorrow is Ascension Day - a holyday of obligation.  A reminder that sadly our local clergy do not have the capacity for a school Mass and so we need to ask families to attend holyday of obligation Masses in their own parishes.

Year 11 written papers have begun and we are already impressed with the focus shown by our students.  Our best wishes to their families as well as to the Year 13s.

Parent parking around the Dell at the end of Milton Road

We have received reports from members of the public that a number of cars of parents have been regularly using the private property to park on, and on occasion driving through it too quickly. They wanted to advise all parents that the area is private property, is under CCTV and that all parking violations are captured as a result.

School Uniform

Following the loss of John Lewis as our second uniform supplier, we have asked Koolskools in Shirley to stock our uniform.  They will do so in addition to Skoolkit, so you have the choice, as well as our second hand uniform shop, available on Scopay.  The direct link for St Anne's is https://bit.ly/42zK636 and an introduction letter and price list are attached.

A reminder that we are delighted to receive donations of unneeded uniform to reception so that we can stock our second hand uniform shop.

Urban Cooking Project

We have received details of a Monday evening cooking course until November for years 7 to 11 across the city. Please see the flyer attached

No Limits ACTIVE30

No Limits provides invaluable support for young people across Southampton and many in our school.  They are currently fundraising and suggesting that people do 30 minutes of activity every day in June and get sponsored for it… perhaps something to do with the family?  The relevant information is attached to this email.

Holiday Activity Fund & Supermarket Vouchers

If you are in receipt of free school meals, you might like to look at some of the half term activities available through the Holiday Activity Fund.  The City has also managed to secure funding for supermarket vouchers for the half term for FSM families: we will send these out when we receive them.

With all good wishes

Mr Julian Waterfield
